I was recently talking with a good friend of mine, Michael Dahdal from My Chi Journey. We were observing the different words that we chose to describe our wellbeing trips around the world.
I am always saying “spiritual retreat”, “yoga retreat”, “yoga vacation”, etc.
He is against the whole “retreat ” terminology and he is always using “journey”.
Is it a real difference? Maybe, if you are taking in literally.
We are both trying to help people gain new tools, new knowledge that can help them, especially after their return home. So the spiritual vacation is just a beautiful starting point. A refresh button, that gives you some inspiration and a great amount of positive energy, that you can bring back in your daily life.
Are we really trying to escape from something? Or are we simply just trying to have some time, nurturing our souls.
Whatever triggers us to go in a spiritual journey, is a good sign, is just our true self that is trying to connect with us. Don’t get me wrong, we can nurture this relation anywhere on this planet, even in our kitchen, but an exotic location and a true yoga practice is always helping 😛
So, is a spiritual retreat an escape from reality? Or a step further?
I think that, whatever terminology we use, words are not enough to describe what a beautiful experience this can be for our selves.
Whatever destination you go for, and whatever practice, I am sure that you will return enriched. I travelled in such journeys from the age of 20. I went in China in a taoist temple and I have soon returned from a yoga ashram. No matter the road you choose, is an amazing journey:)
I am organising retreats but only in romanian for the moment. I can recommend you from my heart My Chi Journey, especially the Bali Experience that takes place this October. If you resonate with their journeys, don’t forget to use the code exoticVIP_mychi for a 10% discount 🙂
