What Ricefields? Enjoy the Indian Tea Plantations

I've spent 50 days in Kerala, South India, and I was mesmerised with it's beauty and complexity. But in a certain place, I witnessed and photographed the most beautiful landscapes in my life.  This place is called Munnar, it's located  1600 meters above sea level, an it's the place where you can find unending tea plantations, pristine valleys and mountains, wild elephants and exotic species of flora and fauna. It's one of the main places where spices are cultivated in South India, so many times you can feel the scented cool air.The British rulers from the colonial days were choosing this piece of heaven as their summer favourite summer destination. As top attractions, you can enjoy the numerous tea plantations, or fluffy green carpets as I like to call them, waterfalls, the spice and tea markets and factories, you can join a trekking excursion, or you can visit Munnar City. But this article is about the stunning tea plantations, the green carpets that are...

Si mai adaugam si ceva comedie romantica, in care personajul principal pleaca in India pentru a scrie un roman.

Kochi – The Indian City that Stole my Heart

Kochi, the Indian city that makes you feel like part of a movieA movie? Yes, a mixture between Indiana Jones, Eat Pray Love and Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. And we can add also a romantic comedy in which the main character goes alone in India to write a romantic novel.Kochi is the cultural capital of Kerala and it has two parts, the new one and the old harbour part. To be honest, I didn't even strugle to visit the modern part, because I fell deeply in love with the old one, the bohemian romantic and artistic part of the city. This old part is called Fort Kochi and it's a harbour that has been active since 1341. This is how for so many centuries, this part of India has made exchanged values with the rest of the world. It is still active, but time and modernisation has slowed things drastically, but it is still a very beautiful place where people are selling spices, oils, rice and other goods. The best part of this city? The funny goats that are running free...

Ritualistic Make-up – Kathakali Dance, Kerala

Kathakali dance, another jewel of Kerala Kathakali (Malayalam: കഥകളി) is a  classical Indian dance-drama, that is standing out through the attractive make-up of the characters, the elaborate costumes and well defined gestures and face expressions. It is original from Kerala, the South part of India, in the 17' th century, and as many other performances, it has a religious and ritualistic nature. The dance is not very elaborate, but the movements, gestures and face expressions are the ones that are transmitting the energy and the story. You can witness this performance in Kochi Fort but also in many other places around Kerala. But what I recommend, is to arrive one hour earlier, in order to assist to the beautiful transformation of the performers into the characters, that are usually two: a demon and a hero. And for a photographer, this is an amazing opportunity to shoot colours and portraits in the same time. The make-up process always begins with an invocation, a prayer...

Primele doua zile in India, petrecute impreuna cu 30.000 de oameni

How Bali forced me to follow my dreams

Wow Bali, I knew you would change my life, but I didn’t expect it this way! My life is completely different since I moved in Bali, 4 moths ago. But in the last 10 days, this island has twisted my world upside down. I knew Bali will change me, but I never thought that in such an abrupt manner. I felt the magic of this place, but I didn’t know that sometimes, it has only tough love to give, like a parent that is not letting you to stay in fear or to stay in your comfort zone.Ten days ago I was in Ubud, with my mother, planning to go back home, to my boyfriend of eight years.  Now, I am alone, on a plane to India, going on my first solo trip ever, and hoping to evolve, to discover new parts of myself and to heal my broken heart. I followed my dream and I moved in Bali, but after four months I started to feel stuck, so I had the urge to continue the dream, to discover other amazing spiritual and exotic destinations. But my boyfriend was still home, not being able to share my dream....
